Photographs by Michael Rougier - 1970s [LIFE Magazine]
In the 1970′s, actress and model Tippi Hedren (mother of actress Melanie Griffith) created the Shambala Preserve after producing the film Roar. The preserve rescued exotic big cats living in captivity that had been abused or were in need of help, one of which the family created a close bond with. Neil the lion lived with the family in their home, and played an active role in the day to day activities of the preserve.

Love is in you.
I recently adopted a new motto. “It takes your brain between 90 seconds and 4 minutes to decide if you fancy someone.” I like it very much - it’s simple, plain, and says everything about me.
Now, the question is: how much time until you find out that you are deeply in love? Two hours? A day? Four weeks? Three months? For me it was, more or less, a month and a half. It lasts until now, circa six months afterwards. Never happened anything other than a friendship. And that’s okay.
So, I guess the real question is: how much time until you stop being in love and are able to move on? Seven months? A year? Never? With such a strong feeling I guess you never know…
